Waking up this morning the sun was shining and the sky blue. We were psyched to say the least!! Three days of being cooped up watching films and eating food sounds like fun but when you're in Fontainebleau to climb, it gets a bit frustrating.
Most areas were still pretty damp today, however as the day came to a close we headed to Manoury with one goal in mind, to climb Irreversible. It was put up by Julien Nadiras in 2002 and is definately one of the most striking lines in the Forest. The holds were still a little damp but with some care, attention and a whole lot of chalk we managed to get the line into climbable condition. The climbing is squeezy and revolves around heel hooks, with body positioning being crucial. It took me a few goes to work the beta and summon up the courage to commit to the last move before I topped out on wet, puddle-filled jugs! I lay in the sun atop the boulder feeling very happy. Maybe this was not terrifically hard, but it was one I had wanted to do since setting eyes on it!! Perfect!
The scary wet descent was gripping but gave my friends Tom and Ned something to laugh about! The sunshine looks set to continue, so fingers crossed I'll have some more successes to report!
